To help you find the best fares, we present here some suggestions that you can follow:
- Book in advance very often lower or special offer ticket fares can only be bought far in advance in relation to the respective departure date. By booking in advance you will find seats available at the best prices. The closer the booking date is to departure less are your chances of finding the best ticket fares as these are always the most sought after and have a limited number of seats available.
- Try to spend the night of Saturday to Sunday at your chosen destination. Some of the lowest ticket fares have this restriction.
- Return tickets in general are less expensive than two single tickets bought separately.
- Travel during the high season only when necessary. Seats sell out quickly during these periods of the year and the best ticket fares are the first to be sold. It is also common for there to be more sales during the low season as more seats are available.
- Visit the TAP website regularly and subscribe to our Newsletter. This is one of the best ways to discover our more special sales offers at first hand.
Don’t forget that the best ticket fares are more restrictive and require careful travel planning. Many of these ticket fares do not allow any alterations or reimbursement after the ticket has been issued and even when alterations are allowed these will be subject to penalties. Depending on the destination, it may be less expensive to buy a less restrictive ticket than pay a penalty for alterations made to the trip.
Web Fares
Web Fares are only on sale via the TAP website.
You will not find these fares through any other sales outlet. The type of price is duly indicated during the booking process.
Resident Fares
TAP offers special ticket fares for passengers residing in the Portuguese Islands when traveling to Continental Portugal or between Madeira and the Azores.
Bookings for residents must be made separately to other types of passengers due to the special applicable ticket fares.
On the payment page before concluding a booking, resident passengers must indicate their taxpayer’s number and ID card number as proof of residency on one of the Portuguese Islands. In the case of children and babies that do not have an ID card or taxpayer’s number the respective ID card numbers of their parents should be indicated.
In the event you intend to purchase one of these ticket fares, select the option “Advanced Search” to make your booking.
Infant Fares
TAP offers special infant fares for passengers up to 23 months, who do not occupy a seat and must be accompanied by an adult.
However, if the infant turns two years of age by the return date of the journey, the passenger cannot travel as an infant and must occupy a seat priced at a child fare for the entire journey.
In this case, for safety reasons a car type seat must be used on all flights in which the infant is not 2 years of age. The child must still be accompanied by an adult passenger.

On some routes, TAP offers special fares for Youth and Senior citizens.
Fares for Youth passengers are valid for passengers between 12 and 24 years of age. Fares for Senior citizens are valid for passengers 65 years of age or older.
Youth or Senior bookings must be made separately to other types of passengers due to the having different special conditions.
