“You don’t have to be Portuguese to feel saudade, but Portugal has something that stays with you, that you don’t easily forget.”

Lisbon apart, I love Alto Douro (photo), which I think has a unique beauty. The Alentejo is wonderful in Spring and last year I must have covered hundreds of kilometres just visiting different parts of the region and falling in love with them at the same time. And Minho is incredibly beautiful! It’s really a country of extremes.
A Remarkable City
I love the old part of Lisbon: Alfama, Baixa, Bairro Alto, Chiado, Avenida da Liberdade up to Parque Eduardo VII. I can spend hours wandering around, getting lost in the areas. I’m always thinking, where could I buy a house in Portugal? And every time I go somewhere new I want to buy one there.
Where to Eat in Lisbon
I love Pap’Açorda’s açorda de marisco. My favourites are the ones in the “memória” and “clássicos” category. I’ve also had some great meals in Vítor Sobral’s restaurant Terreiro do Paço.
