Where to Eat
Run by one of the great Portuguese chefs, José Avillez, in the Chiado district, this restaurant, which focusses on traditional snacks and dishes, is small (booking is a good idea) and cosy. Specialities include green bean tempura and baked Niza cheese. Closed on Sundays.
Considered one of the ten most beautiful bars in Europe, it is a Lisbon classic with five rooms full of objects from various eras that have been collected over the years by the owner. It has a billiard table and closes only at Christmas and New Year.
