Idyllic beaches with coconut trees, sand dunes, cliffs and crystal clear waters. This is the main postcard of Fortaleza. In the water, you can feel fantastic temperatures of 25 to 28 degrees. And as there is nothing better than a sunset on the beach, take the hint, and celebrate the moment on the Ponte dos Ingleses, an old metal structure on Iracema Beach.

There are about 25 kilometres of beach along the city. So you have plenty to choose from. Iracema, Meireles, Mucuripe and Futuro beaches are the best options, although each one is different from the other. Take note. If your option is taking long walks and hikes to unwind, head for the Meireles beach. The long, wide promenade invites for a few stops in small shops and restaurants with local cuisine. Stop and have lunch by the sea. Then buy a souvenir in the renowned Arts and Crafts Fair. Mucuripe is the beach to see the rafts and the colourful sails. Used only as a port, here you'll find many fishermen returning from a day's work. Take advantage of the fact that you're in a port and take a boat ride. It's a good opportunity to see Fortaleza, this time, from the sea. For sea and sun bathing, the Praia do Futuro is the best option. There are about seven kilometres of beach, frequented by tourists and surfers. It also hosts musical performances and by the most famous forró bands. At Iracema, the night seems better than the day. Tourists and locals choose this beach due to the animation that is lived in bars, restaurants and nightclubs.
