The Fighter continues the long American tradition of handing out awards to boxing films. This time round, it's a true story of the early career of Micky Ward (Whalberg) and his complicated family, particularly his relationship with his brother and ex-fighter Dicky (Bale) who, after throwing in the towel, has to face his own demons and drug problem, while he tries to train his younger brother.
