Bogota, the Gold of the Muiscas

Proclaimed to be the largest city in Colombia, Bogota has an attractive summery climate year round that invites us to take a leisurely stroll through La Candelaria, a showy neighbourhood where historic colonial buildings and palaces, bohemian cafes, art galleries and idle theatres peek around every corner.

The city is known for its majestic collection of Pre-Colombian gold art housed in the Museo Del Oro (Gold Museum) that will dazzle all who visit.

Bogota offers a number of day excursions for visitors to enjoy. These include a trip to Zipaquirá, where you will find an impressive underground cathedral built within a salt mine. Another interesting place to visit is Monserrate, which offers a fantastic view of the city from atop the mountain.

Since the climate here is tropical, it is a good idea to carry an umbrella or, better still, take shelter in the abundant shopping district. At night, enjoy the vibrant night life the city has to offer.
