Rome, the ‘Eternal City’ and master Federico Fellini are the theme and inspiration of edition number 7 of UP, the TAP in-flight magazine.
In an elegant reinterpretation of the kiss scene from ‘La Dolce Vita’ with Anita Ekberg and Marcello Mastroianni at the Fontana di Trevi, the model Marisa Cruz poses in a dress designed by the stylist Fatima Lopes over which the most famous moment of this masterpiece of world cinema is projected.
Tribute to high quality
For Fatima Lopes, the rule is 'create’ (clothes, jewelry, shoes) but this time she made an exception: copying in this case the dress that Anita Ekberg wore in La Dolce Vita. “Though I don‘t usually do this, I thought it was justified as it was for a high quality magazine such as UP and paying homage to one of the most charismatic films ever”.
The same worked for Marisa Cruz, an enamored fan of the 50's and 60's, an era in which the female figure was celebrated to the maximum. The curves and look serve as the basis for what she considers appropriate to recreate the glamour of the 'femme fatales' that populated films at the time.
Friends for life
Fatima Lopes has a career that spans more than 15 years, born in Madeira and based in Lisbon with several stores in a number of Portuguese cities, Los Angeles and Paris, where in September her twentieth fashion show will be held and included in the official prêt-à-porter fashion calendar.
She has worked with Marisa Cruz since the beginning. “She has unique beauty. There is nobody like her and she is very feminine. She quickly transformed herself into the image of my label. Today we are friends for life.” The model was Miss Portugal and Miss Photogenic in 1992 and had a brief spell as an actress in the film Kiss Me by Antonio da Cunha Telles.
Recently elected as the best in-flight magazine in the world by the Spanish magazine Marie Claire, the UP May edition will be on board all TAP flights from tomorrow May 1, where it may be seen by the 700 thousand passengers that travel each month with the National Airline Company.
