Sao Vicente

In the birthplace of Cesária Évora, that was once a harbour for ships, routes and trends from all over the world, you will find the cultural capital of Cape Verde, there’s also place for the history of the encounter between Africa and Europe.

The fourth smallest Cape Verdean island, in size, but the second largest, in population, São Vicente keeps the dry touch of its volcanic origin and sandy grounds. Nevertheless, the island flourishes in the warm joy of the people and the dancing rhythm of its capital: Mindelo, a cosmopolitan city where history, culture and arts bloom in every corner. It couldn’t happen any other way in the island that was once a emporium of commerce, people and trends mixed together in this strategic point between the African, European and American continents.
