The winter months, with temperatures between two degrees below zero and four positive are ideal for those who enjoy snow scenery and even more for those seeking fun in the great Swiss ski resorts. Davos and Zermatt are the best known, but in the outskirts of Zurich you’ll find ski tracks to suit every taste.

Lake Zurich and the mountains in the vicinities are natural gifts that appeal to those looking for tranquillity, but also to practice winter sports, especially skiing. In the outskirts of the city, the mountains of Uetliberg, with 2850 meters of altitude, which provide a breathtaking view over the city and lake and are highly sought for sleigh rides. You can easily use the train (there is a train and ski pack, with a round-trip on the same day) and head to Flumserberg, the nearest ski resort and most popular among the inhabitants of Zurich. For many, the city is also the gateway to the dozen of existing "ski resorts", particularly the most renowned as Davos and Zermatt, with fantastic infrastructures, including hotels, restaurants and shops. Other resorts to consider on a visit to Switzerland are Beckenried, with 15 tracks, Oberiberg - Ybrig, with 30 kilometer cross country tracks and 50 ski tracks, Engelberg, with all level slopes and excellent conditions for snowboarding. Still Davos, remains at the top of the preferences of many practitioners, also due to its fame and hotel offer, as well as health care and welfare. Davos is a world within the world and not only for skiers.
