ALGARVE – NOVEMBER 7-14th 2009
One of the oldest amateur golf tournaments in Portugal, the TAP OPEN, will again be held in the Algarve, where around 300 participants will get the chance to discover this Portuguese region over the course of a week. One of the highlights for this year is the arrival of a group from Morocco, following the start of TAP operations to this country around a year ago.
Maintaining its system of rotation between various locations in the region, this year’s tournament will be contested in the Barlavento area, between 7 and 14 November.
The tournament has been running since 1977, with the aim of promoting the Algarve as a golf destination and TAP as an airline of choice.
With a history spanning over 30 years, from the very beginning this competition has established itself as a prime advertising vehicle, bringing tens of thousands of players to the Algarve from the various countries to which TAP flies.
Its success over the years has resulted from its strict selection of high-quality courses and hotels and its projection of TAP as a major carrier for the most important outbound tourism markets.
The TAP OPEN is a stroke play tournament contested over four days, preceded by two practice days. This year’s event will be held at the MORGADO, O’CONNOR, PENINA and SALGADOS courses.
The participants will be put up at the LE MERIDIEN PENINA and HOTEL D.JOÃO II. AVIS will again be the tournament's official car hire company.
The award ceremony for the 32nd TAP Golf Open will be held on 13 November from 8 pm at HOTEL D.JOÃO II, Alvor – Algarve.
