Travelling with children
Flying with children always involves a a bit more planning and organization of your flight. To help you with that, TAP provides special services for those who travel with children.
Priority boarding
Travelling with children involves extra hand baggage and it's always hard getting everyone seated.
This is why we introduced priority boarding so that you and your children can be first on the plane whenever your aircraft is parked at a loading bridge.
This will give you more time to get your family settled in and stow your belongings.
Pushchairs
Your baby can remain in the pushchair until reaching the door of the aircraft. After that we will take care of it and it will be waiting for your baby when you reach your destination.
Car seats on aircraft seats
A child up to 5 years old may carry a car-type seat for accommodation on board.

Carrycots
If you are travelling with a baby, you can request a carrycot
This service is free on TAP aircraft, with the exception of code-share flights.
Many infants and small children fly without occupying a seat, i.e. they travel in a carrycot or on the lap of a parent or guardian. The airline provides carrycots for babies if their parents request one.
The use of carrycots is subject to certain conditions:
-
The infant must not weigh more than 10 kg (22 lbs).
-
The carrycot measures 70 cm (27.5 in) by 30 cm (12 in).
-
The combined weight of the baby and the carrycot must not exceed 15 kg (33 lbs). The carrycot weighs 4.25 kg (9.3 lbs).
-
There are specific seats on the aircraft for installing carrycots and their number is therefore limited. Please inform the airline of all the flights on which the infant needs a carrycot when making your booking.
-
The number of seats available for carrycots varies from one type of aircraft to another and if there is availability it will be confirmed immediately when you book.
- Each adult may only hold one child.
