TAP, recognizing the interest that this sport arouses was a pioneer in support of golf in Portugal and has been supporting this modality for around 30 years.
We have sponsored not just the major national tournaments such as the Portugal, Madeira and Algarve Opens, and other smaller sized ones, but we have also supported publications linked to Golf - Golfer's Guide, Regras do Golfe (edited by the Portuguese Golf Federation) and a basic teaching video produced by the golfing professional Tony Barnabé.
Back in 1978 we launched OPEN TAP aimed at passengers, amateur golfers from the company, hailing from the variety of destinations to which TAP flies. Throughout these years, thousands of golfers have visited out country to take part in this tournament which is assuredly the largest amateur golf tournament held in Portugal as every year it gathers together around 350 players.
