Sales In Opening Hours Reach Around 3,000 Seats
To mark the liberalization of air traffic from Madeira announced on April 23 by national and regional authorities, TAP launched a special offer campaign in which it is offering 20 thousand seats from €63.30 on Lisbon - Funchal - Lisbon flights. These ticket tariffs per leg already include airport charges and available for a maximum 30-day period refer to trips taken up to the end of the year.
The rush registered on this first day of the campaign has been a success and already around 15% of the total number of seats available (2,948) have been sold. Sales are on offer both from local travel agents the major TAP sales’ channel, as well as direct from company stores, the TAP Call-Center and website www.flytap.com .
When announcing this initiative, TAP set its goal for this year of reaching 1 million passengers on flights from Madeira which would represent an increase of around 20% compared with 2007. For this, it relies on an increase in flights by Madeira residents who will be able to travel more frequently to the Continent, as well as an increase in flights from Portugal as well as leading tourist issuing markets.
As the administrator of the national airline company Luiz Mor referred to, by presenting this special offer campaign TAP intends to contribute to making "Madeira in fashion". To achieve this goal, commercial representatives of the company in different foreign markets are drawing up a range of initiatives with support from Madeira Tourism. It is also worth reporting as a positive fact that some of the leading hotels of this self-governing region have already decided to announce special offers in association with the TAP initiative.
