"UP" Magazine

On all short and long-haul flights, "UP" is the new in-flight magazine, replacing "Atlantis". It is a monthly magazine and like its predecessor contains articles and reports of interest, and also general information about TAP services.

AUGUST HIGHLIGHT

Madeira - Atlantic Garden

"The Gulf Stream bathes the archipelago of Madeira, the flower of the Atlantic, and it is here that UP touches down in our August issue. In this in-flight magazine you can discover all the beauty and flavours the islands have to offer in the year that the capital city of Funchal celebrates its 500th anniversary and TAP its 50th year in Madeira.

In light of this year’s festive season, this month TAP and the Funchal 500 Years organisation have established a collaborative protocol whose remit, as official sponsor, is to promote the region widely and with enthusiasm.

Land of mild winters and hot summers, this magnificent destination is shown in UP in all its sophistication, from the comfort and elegance of the hotel group Pestana  to the historic Reid’s hotel where the likes of Winston Churchill and George Bernard Shaw have stayed – all this and much more. As Vicente Jorge Silva, this edition’s guest editor, says, this is the perfect place “for an encounter with wild areas where time stands still - a primitive, intact beauty, which invites us to dive into our very depths”. But there are other Portuguese charms shown in this edition: the magic of the Serra do Gerês in the north of the country, the dazzling Alentejo town of Arraiolos or the ceramic work of the great artist Rafael Bordalo Pinheiro.

From the world we bring you, in the month of the Olympic Games, the secrets of Beijing and in the middle of the Mediterranean, a walk along the paths of Corsica. And as you know UP also presents all those things you shouldn’t miss on board our flights – the best cinema, music, food and top quality wines – as well the latest good news from TAP."
