The sky is not the limit

Altitude and rarefied air increase the effect of alcohol.

After alcohol has been drunk on board, a passenger may show signs of aggressive behaviour that might compromise the safety of the aircraft and other passengers.

Paragraph 2 of Article 5 of Portuguese Law no. 254/2003 provides for the possible need to limit the amount of alcohol served on board.

In accordance with the aforementioned Decree-Law:

  • Alcoholic beverages and the respective quantity that may be included as a service vary in terms of complementary regulations, according to the type and duration of the flight;
  • In case of a passenger showing signs of being under the influence of alcohol, crew members may decline to serve him/her;
  • In case where drinking alcoholic beverages means that the passenger  attains an alcohol level of, or superior to 0.8 g/litre.

Any attempt to avoid, disregard or fail to comply with these parameters is punishable by law.

Fly safely with TAP.
