TAP increases capacity on links between Spain and Portugal

2010-01-21

“TAP increased its presence in the Spanish market in 2009 and it now offers the largest number and range of links to Portugal of the comapnies operating in Spain,” declared Vitoria William, TAP representative in Spain, at the opening of Fitur, one of the largest tourism fairs in Europe being held in Madrid until next Sunday.

TAP also took this opportunity to announce that it will be adding more flights in 2010, to build its capacity to a total of 1,375,000 available seats, 7% more than in 2009.

The Portuguese flag carrier opened its new route to Valencia on 25 October, which has proved to be a well-judged move with occupancy rates already close to 70%.

TAP currently flies from Lisbon to Madrid, Barcelona, Malaga, Bilbao, La Coruña, Pamplona, Valencia and Seville and from Oporto to Madrid and Barcelona. It also operates direct flights between Funchal and Madrid during the summer months. With a total of 192 weekly flights linking the two Iberian countries, TAP has consolidated its position as the company offering the best product for air links between Portugal and Spain.

With a view to encouraging growth in traffic flows between Spain and Portugal, thus strengthening its contribution to Portuguese tourism, TAP is currently running several promotional campaigns in the Spanish market. These offer flights from the various cities in Spain it serves, with fares starting at €51.

TAP has also launched a promotional campaign in the Portuguese market, offering flights to Bilbao, La Coruña, Malaga, Pamplona, Seville and Valencia from €79.
