In First Six Months of the Year TAP Transports 22.3% more Passengers

2008-07-22

The number of passengers transported by TAP during the first semester grew 22.3 percent compared with the same period last year, reaching a record number of 4.1 million passengers, confirming the fact the Company continues to strengthen the preference of its customers.

In the month of June alone TAP registered an increase equal to the first semester of 2008, that is, the Company transported 22.3 percent more passengers than in the same month of last year, having registered significant growth in traffic from Europe, the Self-Governing Region of Madeira, Africa, Brazil and Venezuela.

These results are in line with forecasts set by the Company for 2008 and incorporate the very positive contribution of the PGA integration which has operated as part of TAP services since July 2007.

The growth registered also reflects the improvements made to the TAP network with the opening up of new destinations and the investment made in others in major international markets both in Europe, Africa and Brazil. It is also worth highlighting the good performance in air traffic to Venezuela with a 19.4% increase in June.

TAP has been improving the service it offers its passengers and in June adopted its new commercial philosophy “Embark on the freedom of choice - 1 flight, 5 ways to travel" which offers different service and pricing options.
