Service Animals
A “service animal” is an animal (dog) that accompanies and helps a blind passenger or one with hearing difficulties.
From May 1 2009 emotional support dogs can also be transported on board TAP flights as long as the following conditions are met:
* Transport application made with a minimum 48 hours in advance;
* Remittance of the MEDIF (INCAD) form - see PDF to side.
Confirmation of a passenger’s booking shall not be issued until a response is received from the TAP doctor. Depending on their decision TAP shall insert an SSR PETC * EMOTIONAL SUPPORT DOG into the booking or handle the application as a MEDA.
IMPORTANT:
Passengers must be notified that their dog must:
- Carry leash;
- Not move about the cabin space;
- Not occupy seating space;
- Be identified as a support animal;
- Comply with all sanitary regulations and present all legally required documentation;
- Carry documentation that it was officially trained and licensed, to be presented at check-in.
