Beach

The blueness of the Adriatic and sunny days invite to boat trips and sunbathing on the beaches of Dubrovnik and the nearby islands.

The proximity of the Adriatic Sea to Dubrovnik makes the city appealing for sun seekers. Recently discovered by tourists, the beaches are among the preferences of many travelers and even some say that this region may come to rival Marbella shortly. In Dubrovnik and the surrounding area there are several places for swimming and sunbathing, although many beaches have sand or even coarser stones. The most famous beach is Banje, visited by guests from the luxury hotels and international celebrities. It has several supporting infrastructures, including rental of beach umbrellas, deck chairs, boats and jet skis. In the Peninsula of Lapad is Copacabana beach, whose resemblance to the homonymous Brazilian is only in the name. The sand is formed by small stones, which may not please everyone, but the landscape and water temperature make you forget this detail. A restaurant, a bar, fruit and ice cream shops, a canoe rental stand, showers and places to change clothes provide extra comfort. Near the Lapad hotels’ is Uvala Lapad, a lovely beach surrounded by pine trees that has thinner sand. In addition to cafes and restaurants it has a large playground and tennis courts. On the island of Lokrum is one of the favorite beaches of the inhabitants of Dubrovnik. To get there, just take a boat near the Port of the Old Town and in ten minutes arrive in a popular location for swimming and water sports, but it also has a restaurant and bar, ideal for the hottest peak hours. The Archipelago of Elaphite formed by the islands of Kolocep, Lopud and Sipan has quieter beaches. The boats depart from Gruz Terminal.
