Nature

At the top of São Vicente is kept a truly natural treasure where sea and land meet.

Monte Verde, just under 800 metres high, where the islands stands the tallest, is a natural viewpoint where you can sight the ocean and the land, as well as everything it has to offer. To get there you can follow the road that meanders through the hills by jeep or by foot. Waiting for you is Monte Verde Natural Park, opened in 2008, with the purpose of protecting the landscape and promoting ecotourism. In an almost deserted land, the natural richness is priceless, making the way for the preservation of the 34 species of endemic plants – one of which is exclusive of São Vicente –, three endangered bird species and one endangered bug species.
