A metropolis like Shanghai doesn’t sleep. That’s the rule. The night here lasts till dawn and there is something for every taste and pocket. And smile – going out at night doesn’t come that expensive. Obviously, there are eclectic places. But if you have a beer for example, you will only spend between one and four Euros.

There are several zones where one can experience the city’s nightlife, from the new Pudong to the old city. But there are places one can’t miss, starting by a few of the restaurants. In average, a meal for two costs 20 Euros in Shanghai. And to choose there are traditional menus, European and the imperative multinational chains…Start the night by experiencing quiet environments – how about a bit of jazz, while you have a whisky? Try The Jazz Bar at the Fairmont Hotel. There is also the Glamour Bar (20, Guangding Lu), known by its sophisticated environment of the 30s and by serving some of the best martinis in the city. Cloud 9 is also an option, considered one of the highest bars of the world, with a 360º panoramic view of the city to impress visitors. For a bit of clubbing, it is recommended a visit to the popular Baby Face (138, Huaihai Zhong Lu), the MAO disco (46, Yueyang Lu) or the tiny but cosy Dragon Club (156, Fengyang Lu), open at the weekends until 7am. If you’re at the elitist neighbourhood of Bund, try visiting the Bar Rouge with its impressive balcony (www.bar-rouge-shanghai.com).
