Electronic Devices on Board (PED’s)

TAP Portugal allows the use of portable electronic devices (PED) during all flight, if set in “flight mode” or equivalent profile – Wireless and Bluetooth functions disabled.

Guidelines for use of PED´s during the flight:

  • Mobile phones and other transmitting PED´s may be switched on until aircraft doors closing. From this moment on, PED´s are permitted if set in flight mode or equivalent profile;

  • During take-off and landing, laptops and heavier PED´s (e.g.: DVD readers) must be properly secured in overhead bins. Seat pockets may be used if the PED is fully enclosed by the seat pocket and the total weight inside the seat pocket does not exceed 3 lbs (1,36 kg);

  • When placed on overhead bins or if requested by the crew, PED´s must be switched off.

It’s not permitted the use of the following categories of PED’s during all flight:

  • Walkie-talkies / hand held radios;
  • Remote controlled toys;
  • All wireless computer equipment;
  • Portable stereo sets, including pocket radios (AM/FM);
  • Portable TV receivers;
  • Bluetooth devices;
  • Devices transmitting RF intentionally and other similar type of equipment;
  • E-cigarettes.
