Airport Check-in

It is the most common way to check-in.

     
 

The time limits for checking in for TAP flights are as follows:

Domestic flights:

  • 1 hour before departure

Attention: Passengers travelling from Lisbon to Funchal (and vice-versa) on international flights continuing on to or returning from Caracas (flights with three-digit numbers, e.g. TP148, TP149, TP152) are required to go through passport control. For this reason you should arrive at the airport earlier than is normally required for domestic flights.

European flights:

Schengen countries (Germany, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Czech Republic and Sweden, plus Iceland and Norway (which are non-EU members): 1 hour before departure.

Non-Schengen countries:

  • 90 minutes before departure

Intercontinental flights:

  • 90 minutes before departure

Note: All passengers must be at the boarding gate 30 minutes before departure.  

Notes:

a) On stopovers in Frankfurt, London (Heathrow) and Zurich passengers will have to check in online or perform a self check-in on the airport machines. The conventional check-in desks have been replaced by baggage drop-off desks. There are still Business Class desks at these airports.

b) Unaccompanied minors and passengers with reduced mobility should use the check-in desks in the specially designated area.

c) TAP passengers travelling without baggage to any Schengen country can check in directly at the TAP sales desks at Lisbon and Porto airports when buying their tickets for flights leaving immediately after.

This service is not available on flights requiring document checks, such as intercontinental flights.

Return check-in

Simple at departure and direct on arrival

If you are travelling without baggage and returning in the next 24 hours, you check in for your outward and return flights (valid at all Portuguese airports except Porto Santo and Horta).

Checking in without baggage

Available only at Lisbon Airport

If you will be travelling without baggage or with hand luggage only, you can check in at special desks.
