TAP Portugal provides assistance to blind passengers and transportation of guide-dogs

Guide dogs on board

Blind passengers must inform TAP of their disability when booking, even if they are travelling with a guide dog.

They will be provided with special assistance at the airport until they board the aircraft. They should go to the Special Assistance desk at the airport.

This service is free.

If blind passengers will be bringing a service dog on the flight, TAP must be informed and it will be treated as a guide dog under the following conditions:

Pursuant to Article 3(4) of Decree-Law 74/2007:

  • Assistance dogs are not required to wear a muzzle when in public places.
  • The animal is not allowed to move around the plane or occupy a seat.

Please note that in some countries, such as the United Kingdom and South Africa, the transport of animals, even guide dogs, is not allowed.
