City Break

A real hub, the city of Frankfurt is not only a business center with trade fairs and exhibitions. There are many cultural and historical sites to visit and many green areas to relax, along with an excellent cuisine. Frankfurt is proud of both its modernity and history, having Goethe as its maximum exponent.

One of the original ways of discovering Frankfurt, the fifth largest city in Germany, is to board on the Hop On Hop-Off, a red double-decker bus, that runs through the main points of interest of the city and allows you to climb on and off in several places, though you may explore on foot the short distances between the various attractions. Start by making a real trip down memory lane and visit the house where the so called "Prince of poets" lived, the writer Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Here you may visit the library or the art gallery. Near the house is the museum dedicated to his life and work. The Town Hall, in Römer square, the Dom Cathedral, where medieval kings were crowned, and St. Paul Church (Paulskirche) located in the historical center are mandatory on your tour. On the banks of River Main you’ll find the Nice Gardens (Nizzagärten), with its Mediterranean flora, or the Botanical Garden (Palmengarten) are true oasis in the bustle of the city, known for its huge skyscrapers. Go down Zeil Street and visit Eschenheimer Turm, a tower 47 meters high still belonging to the old city walls. To learn more about the history of the city, from medieval times until the bombings that destroyed it during World War II, are several museums, including the Historisches Museum. Be sure to try a "Frankfurter Würstchen" along with the traditional apple wine (Ebbelwoi).
