The “Cidade Maravilhosa” (Marvelous City) is a grand world with great variety within Brazil, but the city's beaches are undoubtedly one of the greatest beauties of Rio de Janeiro. Who cannot imagine oneself walking along the Calçadão (beach sidewalk) and take a dive in Copacabana?

Blessed by nature, the city offers a wide variety of beaches for you to enjoy the atmosphere and spirit of the Brazilians. To walk along the Copacabana Calçadão is part of any itinerary and imaginary of those who visit Rio de Janeiro. Ipanema is one of the binding sites and one of the beaches that gave worldwide fame to this city. Apart from sand and sea it has several support facilities and hosts various events. Filled with bars, Copacabana is greatly sought for a "chope" (beer) in the late afternoons. It is here that one of the of the planet's most famous "New Year’s Eve" takes place. Leblon is a quiet beach, with various sports facilities and a bike lane. It is separated from Ipanema beach by the Garden of Allah, a channel that links Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon to the sea. Praia Pequena Beach with its strong waves, Prainha Beach is a favorite of the surfers, as well as Barra da Tijuca. Arpoador Beach is famous for the large rock that invades the sea separating Copacabana beach and Diabo Beach from Leblon and Ipanema beaches. On the highest point, one of the most beautiful views of the city, with the Dois Irmãos Hill in the background. Very famous is also Pepino beach, since here land the hand gliders. From Guaratiba Bar you can venture on the tracks that lead to deserted beaches such as Inferno, Perigoso and Meio.
