Books, flowers, souvenirs, clothes or perfume: In the streets of Amsterdam you can find everything, pay a visit to the markets, or to the major haute couture stores, it is inevitable. Count your money and enjoy the day in the Dutch commerce. Do not forget to buy tulips to take back home to your family. The bulbs are very easy to travel and fairly into account.

Because many of the city's roads are closed to traffic, it is easier to walk through the streets and appreciate the window shops. This is a town of antiquities, flowers, books and coffee shops. The zones of Leidsestraat Kalverstraat Utrechtsestraat and Nieuwendijk are mandatory part of a shopping itinerary. They’re filled with tourists, and here the locals sell everything from books, clothes, music, perfume, ice cream and souvenirs. If you would like to go to the supermarket, mostly are Albert Heijn chain and they are open every day. And of course do not miss the Flowermarket, where you can purchase tulips, all kinds of flowers and bulbs, ready for the journey back. After discovering so many shops and kiosks, how about going to a cafe, a bar or restaurant for a rest? In the area of Damrak which is filled with restaurants and hotels, you will find a very special bookstore that also works as tea house: the Himalaya. If the balance on your credit card allows, go to Pieter Cornelisz Hooftstraat. On this street, near the Rijksmuseum, you’ll find designer shops such as Cartier, Gucci and Tommy Hillfiger.
