Athens is the birthplace of democracy and of the Olympics also the first center of arts and sciences. An open air museum that leaves no one indifferent. The imposing Acropolis makes difference if compared to any other city.

Walking through Athens is a delightful exercise. Within the normal bustle of a big city emerges history and you breathe culture. The Acropolis, visible from almost all parts of metropolis, awakens to a reality with a different mythical load than any other place in the world. But in addition to this symbol of the city, Athens has other temples that perpetuated over the years and deserve a visit: the Agora of Athens (which includes the Temple of Hephaestus, also known as Theseion), the Roman Agora of Athens, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the Theatre of Dionysus, the Panathinaikos Stadium (made by Adriano and Herod Atticus renovated in 1896), the National Archaeological Museum of Athens and the Benaki Museum. In the Greek capital it seems that culture has a life of its own, such is the dimension and significance of its buildings. The influence of ancient Athens makes it a special place, with no possible comparison. Besides the monuments, the culture of city extends to several art galleries: the National Gallery of Art in Michalakopoulou Street is a mandatory visit, Pandora and Harma galleries are also worth a look, if the length of your stay allows.
