Copenhagen

The capital and largest city of the kingdom of Denmark is also one of the most desirable cities in Europe. There are studies that link the people of Copenhagen as the happiest in the world. Clearly the living conditions of the country helps, but the city - rich, lively and cosmopolitan - it also is a factor in the wellbeing of citizens.

The city has grown tremendously in recent decades. What once was considered a capital without a flame - was known to the Little Mermaid statue, inspired by the tale of Hans Christian Andersen and the Tivoli Forum Park - today is an important cultural, creative, fashion and of course, business.Copenhagen has today around 693 000 people. Besides being recognized as one of the cities with better quality of life and one of the cleanest in the world, is also one of the ten most expensive cities in the world. For example, recent studies show that 36 percent of the population of Copenhagen circulate daily on bicycles. It's almost the main transportation of the city; on the streets all kinds of bikes are seen. Furthermore, the subway runs 24 hours a day ...The city was be born in the eleventh century, but only became the capital of Denmark in the early fifteenth century. During the Viking period, the city was a village with the name of "Havn" (port). The growth of the port helped the city become an important financial and commercial centre. Therefore the name in Danish: København Kjøbmandehavn, which means "port of merchants."
