City Break

Helsinki is a perfect destination to all year long because there are activities for all tastes. Snow in the winter makes the city an attraction for sports lovers; the almost permanent light in summer invites visitors to get to know life outside the city, in villages with rare customs and beauty.

Landing in Helsinki in the winter isn’t easy during snowfalls. Snow, however, allows you to visit the largest ski resort in the region. Serena Ski is located in Espoo, 25 kilometres from the centre of Helsinki and is the largest water park in Scandinavia. Here, you can find all sorts of activities, not only for adults, but also for children.Outside the great city, there are little villages where you can go for a pleasant walk, breathe fresh air, taste typical cuisine and be dazzled by authentic samples of art history and architecture.Porvoo, for instance, is the most well-preserved medieval city in Finland, which dazzles with the small red warehouses by the river, waiting for reserves from the Baltic Sea ships. Narrow roads and pavements transport visitors on a trip back in time. The coastal city of Loovisa is another stopping point, this time back to the 18th century. In the centre of the city, you will find the church, a beautiful example of neo-gothic style, and in the outskirts of town, there still are remains of the old fortress.
