Nightlife

Ending the day on the beach with a cocktail at sunset, followed by dinner tasting local specialties is the appetizer for a fun night. Later on, it's time for a drink or even dance just next to the beach. Nightlife in Porto Santo reaches its entertainment peak on weekends and during summer, but there is always something to do when night falls.

There are restaurants in the center or along the beach, but also in areas of Camacha, Calheta, Serra de Fora or Morenos. Some offer free transportation from the hotel and back. To start the night in the best possible way, nothing like tasting the gastronomic specialties such as “espetada”, “caldeirada” (stew) “bolo do caco” or “ranchões cozidos”. Wine from Porto Santo, old or new is usually served as an appetizer. Stay on the beach and dine in Tia Maria, stay there for a while longer, since the night in this place is usually very lively. Pé na Água, Calhetas, Solar do Infante or the traditional Adega das Levadas - where bread and wine are made in the restaurant – these are great suggestions for a great dinner. Then you can go for a coffee at João Gonçalves Zarco Street or at Cine Café Porto Santo. In the area of the docks is the complex of Penedo do Sono (Sleepy Rock), but don’t be fooled by the name, because the aim is to drive away the sleepiness and enjoy the night in bars like the Yacht Bar, Borda d’Água or Challenger. Because they’re very close to each other, you can find out which suits you best. Those who prefer a quiet evening can see a show in the Culture and Congress Center or go to the movies, which is just next door.
