Sports Equipment
The transportation of Sports equipment is subject to availability and to the type of aircraft scheduled to operate the flight.
Important Note:
In order to be admitted as checked baggage, sporting and recreational equipment must be properly packed, in hard and resistant material, to ensure safe carriage with ordinary care in handling (resistant to standard pressure caused by normal loading conditions).TAP is not responsible for any damage due to inadequate packing.
Golf Equipment

One item of golfing equipment is defined as 1 golf bag containing one set of golf clubs, golf balls and tees, and 1 pair of golf shoes.

Transportation of boards
Kitesurf and windsurf equipment and surfboards must always be carried in a suitable bag and packed appropriately. If this is not the case, passengers must fill in the respective Transport Declaration form. In the absence of this document, inadequately packed equipment will not be accepted at check-in and may consequently be refused transportation.
TAPPortugaldoes not accept liability for possible damage to inadequately packed boards during travel and recommends that an insurance policy be taken out.

Bikes & Tandems
Transport conditions
- Both types of equipment can only be accepted as checked baggage to be transported in the cargo hold.
- The equipment should be packed with the handlebars to the side and the pedals should be removed.
- Alternatively, the equipment may be wrapped in cellophane or other similar material and packed in a cardboard box.
- The handlebars should be turned at a 90º angle and firmly secured in this position.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
- In order to be admitted as checked baggage the bicycle or tandem must be properly packed, in hard and resistant material to ensure safe carriage with ordinary care in handling (resistant to standard pressure caused by normal loading conditions), with the handlebars fixed sideways and the pedals removed, and, the pedals and handlebars must be encased in plastic foam or similar material.
- It is advisable to rotate the handlebars 90 degrees and tighten them in this position.
- If the bike or tandem is not properly packed, the passenger must be informed that TAP is not responsible for any damage due to inadequate packing, and a limited release tag must be used and marked as “Fragile or inadequate packing”.

* Following the ANAC Government imposition, travels originated in Brazil, will benefit of the transportation of a bicycle duly packed (with pedals removed and the handlebar rotated at 90º), not motorized considered as part of limited luggage 158cm-62inches.

Transport Conditions
Regardless of its size, scuba diving gear is considered a single piece of baggage and cannot exceed a total size of 158cm/62 inches.
In order to be checked as baggage and transported in the cargo hold, the scuba gear must be properly packed so that it can be transported safely (resistant to the normal pressure of loading cargo).
This type of equipment is only accepted if it is transported in the cargo hold.
