In 2007, Tap Cargo transported a total of 93 thousand tons of cargo and mail in the holds of Company aircraft, an amount that represents a nine percent growth in relation to the previous year and now constitutes a new historic record.
Another limit was also reached in terms of turnover with a six percent increase to 112 million euros. TAP Cargo has consolidated its position as leader of the Portuguese market where it retains a 25 percent share of the market. The national market represented one third of total revenue of this business area of the airline transporter and increased by 23 percent in 2007.
Jose Anjos, TAP Cargo director emphasis as the most relevant facts in 2007 “consolidation of the cargo flight operations TAP Cargo runs weekly in Europe from Germany, Belgium and the United Kingdom and which daily help us load up the cargo holds of the 67 flights a week we have to Brazil”.
Looking at the current year, Jose Anjos adds that “firstly, our desire for 2008 is to help TAP respond to the major challenges that approach it, always maintaining the trend towards the growth of the global cargo and mail market in a sustainable way and well supported by a motivated and active human resources’ structure”.
TAP Cargo pays homage to national cargo agents
TAP Cargo paid homage to its best cargo agents across the country, by awarding TOP TAP Cargo 2007 trophies for the northern, central and southern regions, the Azores and Madeira.
In the "Central & Southern Region", TAP Cargo singled out Agencia Abreu as the best cargo agent followed by Cargalpha (a star at these TOP awards), Neotrans, Geocargo and Cargoteam, by order of classification. The “Fidelity Award” for TOP TAP Cargo 2007 was given to the Pentatrans agency, the “Progress Award” to Schenker and “Productivity Award” to the Extra agency.
In the “Northern Region”, the TOP CAP Cargo 2007 winning agency was NCL Transitarios, followed by Eculine (Porto), Trevomar, Nortemar and Abreu Carga (Porto). Also in the north, the “Fidelity Award” went to Eurolis (Porto), the “Progress Award” to SDV Portugal and the “Productivity Award” to Neotrans.
In Madeira, the Abreu Carga agency was awarded first place in the TOP TAP Cargo 2007 followed by Intermadeira. In the Azores, the highest sales volume was registered by the Naviangra agency followed by Tercargo.
