The golf tournament that TAP has organized for more than 30 years will again be disputed in Vilamoura in the Algarve. Between November 8 and 15, more than 300 foreign participants will arrive in Portugal for this traditional competition including the players themselves and their respective guests. It is worth noting that this time for the first time a group of golfers from the Czech Republic will be taking part as well as an increasing number of golfers from Brazil.
The TAP Open Golf Amateur Tournament founded in 1977 to promote Portugal as a golfing destination has ever since become a promotional vehicle for the excellence that has attracted more than ten thousand participants from the various countries that TAP flies to.
The success of this historic tournament has been consolidated over more than three decades due to the quality golf courses and hotels selected and identification of TAP as the primary airline company from leading tourist producing markets, making this tournament ever the more challenging for any golfer.
The competition will be held on the Vilamoura-Laguna, Millennium, Pinhal and Victoria courses. The TAP Open is played stroke play over 72 holes and golfers are divided into four categories over the four days (November 11, 12, 13 and 14), preceded by two days of training (November 9 and 10). All golfers will have the opportunity to play on all four courses. Participants will be staying at the Tivoli Marina and Dom Pedro Golf courses. AVIS is once again associated with the tournament as the official vehicle hire firm for the event.
The Welcoming Ceremony will be held at the Dom Pedro Forum on November 9 and the Prize-Giving Ceremony on November 14 at the Tivoli Marinotel.
