Every European Union citizen over 18 years old holding an Electronic Passport can now use the automated border control devices located on the main Portuguese airports.
If you are crossing the Schengen Space, avoid the border control waiting lines and use the RAPID System - Automatic Identification of Passengers Holding Travelling Documents.

How to cross:
- STEP 1: Insert your e-passport (it must have the respective symbol at the bottom, on the left - see the side image) face down into the reader and wait until reading is complete.
- STEP 2: When door opens, remove e-passport and step forward.
- STEP 3: Position yourself on the yellow spot on the floor.
- STEP 4: Look straight at the mirror.
- STEP 5: Move through when the second door opens.
- Do NOT cover your face
- Do NOT wear a hat
- Do NOT use cellphones or other electronic devices
- Do NOT wear sunglasses
