When you fly with us you will enjoy a completely different interior: one that is more modern, spacious and comfortable. There are Portuguese-designed Recaro seats in all classes.

We have invested in the design with the help of leading Portuguese companies that specialise in skins and leather and who are responsible for the entire interior design of the cabin.

When booking your flight, you can choose from several fares - from the least expensive fare, with fewer benefits, to the most expensive class, with more associated benefits.

You can thus decide how you want to fly and pay only for what you need.

Seats on board

We are now offering you the option to choose a seat in your favourite part of the aircraft where you feel most comfortable. Make sure you travel in your favourite area even before you arrive at the airport (excluding Lisbon-Porto/Porto-Lisbon flights).

We have created three areas in the economy class cabin: Standard, EconomyXtra or Preferential and Extra Legroom (emergency exits):

Extra Legroom / Emergency exit - emergency exit rows between Preferential and Standard areas;
EconomyXtra or Preferential Area - front rows - from the first row of Economy Class to the row before the Extra Legroom area. Except in the A321 fleet, where it is up to row 15 (red seats);
Standard area - from the row after Extra Legroom to the last row of Economy Class (green seats).

Economy that feels like Executive!

Since we are renewing our fleet, not all of our planes have the EconomyXtra area right now.

This area is located in the front rows of Economy Class and offers seats with extra space, reclining chairs with headrest adjustment, tablet holder, access to power supply, and the possibility of a USB connection. See in which planes this area is available (PDF, EN).

To book this type of seating you must:

Understand and speak Portuguese and/or English;
Be able to move quickly;
Be over the age of 12 (these seats are not open to children, accompanied or unaccompanied, or babies);
Not have a cabin animal;
Not be a deportee, considered an inadmissible passenger or be in custody;
No physical or sensory impairment that may imply difficulty in understanding written or verbal instructions.

The reservation of your seat, as well as that of an extra seat, must be made in advance and will be subject to the fare conditions of the ticket (applicable rates on Discount and Basic fares).
These services are available only on flights operated by TAP and TAP Express;

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the time limit to be possible to book and pay for the seats?

Seats can be reserved at any time. In the case of tickets without this benefit included, and if you do not want to pay extra for this service, seats are allocated automatically at check-in (either online or at the airport). Any changes will be charged depending on the TAP Product and the seat requested.

This service is not applicable for Ponte Aérea between Lisbon and Porto or vice-versa.

How do I book a seat?

There are three ways to book:

During the booking process;
While checking-in online*;
At Managing your Booking.

*The decision to move to a seat that must be paid for (requires credit card) cannot be altered.

When is there a right to a refund?

If you are allocated a cheaper seat. Should this happen you will be refunded the difference in cost in vouchers;
In involuntary cases (for example missing a connection through a fault of the company) you will receive a refund of the full amount of the service you did not receive.

Under what circumstances is there no right to a refund?

If you are allocated a different seat, but one that is of the same type;
If you cancel your flight you will not be eligible for a refund, although you may receive a voucher to use on the same service within 12 months of issue;
If you book an emergency exit seat without meeting the requirements.

What happens if the aircraft is changed?

Our system will do all it can to replace the seat you selected with another with the same characteristics. The chosen/allocated seat row may also be changed; however, the system will make sure you are allocated a new seat of the same type. For instance, seat 4C, which is a “EconomyXtra” seat may be changed to 6D, which is also a “EconomyXtra” seat.

The seat pitch and width is greater in executive class. These larger seats offer better support and comfort while on board our aircraft.

These are our recommendations when booking one:

Request one when booking your TAP flight;
Extra seats cannot be provided to passengers travelling next to emergency exits, for safety reasons.

Passengers who, for medical reasons, require a seat in front to rest their leg, must see the Medical Assistance area for more information.

You may also contact TAP or your travel agent.

Extra seats to carry fragile or bulky baggage, musical instruments or diplomatic bags are also available.

For cabin baggage or bulky items, the number of extra seats provided by the airline will depend on the volume/weight of the baggage. Find out more here.

Important information If a passenger uses this service on just one of the legs (outward or return), the lowest tariff available at the time the reservation is made will be applied to the fare. Fuel surcharge and taxes will be added to the price of this fare.
