Traveling from the United States Of America and Brazil

As a result of restrictions implemented by the Government of Portugal  in effect through July 15, 2020, passengers traveling from Brazil and the United States will only be authorized to enter Portugal if they meet the following conditions:

FROM THE USA

Only the following passengers may enter Portugal:
- Portuguese nationals
- Foreign nationals holders of residency permits in Portugal
- Citizens of the EU and nationals of States which are members of the Schengen Area and their families in accordance with Directive 2004/38 / EC of the Parliament and of the Council, and nationals of a third-country if they are legal residents of an EU Member State
- Third-country nationals traveling for business, study, family reunions, health reasons or humanitarian reasons;

In addition to meeting the conditions for travel as stipulated above, passengers must also:
- At time of departure, present proof of the results of a negative COVID-19 test administered in the 72 hours preceding their flight, otherwise passengers may be denied entry in Portugal
- Nationals of Portugal and  foreign nationals holders of legal residency in Portugal, who exceptionally do not have proof of COVID-19 testing, will be immediately escorted upon arrival in Portugal by the competent security authorities in order to have the test administered at passengers’ own expense

FROM BRAZIL

Only the following passengers may enter Portugal:
- Portuguese nationals
- Foreign nationals holders of residency permits in Portugal
- Citizens of the EU and nationals of States which are members of the Schengen Area and their families in accordance with Directive 2004/38 / EC of the Parliament and of the Council, and nationals of a third-country if they are legal residents of an EU Member State

United Kingdom

As of June 8, new rules are in to affect for passengers, residents and non-residents, travelling to the United Kingdom. Passengers will need to:

  • Fill out the online form available here, providing information regarding the journey, as well as personal contact information. The form can only be submitted within 48 hours before the scheduled arrival in the United Kingdom;
  • Self-isolate for a period of 14 days at the location where you will be staying. Click here for more information.

Portugal - Madeira and Porto Santo

When planning your trip to Madeira and Porto Santo, it is important to know the regulations in force in this Region, within the scope of the prevention and containment of COVID-19.

1 - It is mandatory to complete the travel registration form. For your convenience, you can fill it out 12 to 48 hours prior to departure here: https://madeirasafe.com. 

As of July 1:

  • All passengers on flights from abroad who carry a negative PCR test for COVID-19 disease, performed within 72 hours prior to disembarkation, in laboratories certified by national or international authorities, upon disembarkation, proceed to their destination, upon presentation of the corresponding report which can also be submitted, in advance, together with the inquiry referred to in point 1.
  • Passengers disembarking at airports in the Autonomous Region of Madeira who have not performed a PCR test for COVID-19, will do so at the airport upon arrival. After performing the PCR test, the passenger will proceed to their destination. The passenger will be informed of the result within the following 12 hours.

As additional preventive measures for COVID-19 in the Autonomous Region of Madeira, the following are recommended:

  • Use of a mask, especially in closed spaces and public transport (mandatory);
  • Social distance (2 meters between people and avoid crowds);
  • Frequent hand hygiene;
  • Respiratory etiquette.

Portugal - Azores

As of June 15, All  all passengers disembarking at the airports of Ponta Delgada, on the island of S. Miguel, or Lajes, on the island of Terceira, will be presented with a statement which they must fill out and sign. The statement will present various possibilities and the passenger will have to opt between one of the following:

  1. Submit proof, in paper form, of a document issued by an accredited laboratory for the testing of COVID-19, attesting to the SARS-CoV-2 screening test, within 72 hours prior to the departure the airport of origin. The document must state the passenger's identification, the laboratory where it was performed, the date of the test, the signature of the person responsible for carrying out the test, and the NEGATIVE result. In this case, and if the stay is extended for seven or more days, the passenger must, on the 5th and 13th day, counting from the date of the SARS-CoV-2 screening test, if the stay is for the mentioned duration or more, contact the health authority of the municipality where you reside or are staying, with the objective of conducting a new SARS-CoV-2 screening test, done by the local health authority, the result of which you will be notified;
  2. Complete a screening test for SARS-CoV-2, done by the local health authority, with the collection of biological samples upon arrival, and must remain, in prophylactic isolation at home or the location where you will be staying, until the test result is received. In this case, and if the stay is extended for seven or more days, the passenger must, on the 5th and 13th day, counting from the date of the SARS-CoV-2 screening test, if the stay is for the mentioned duration or more, contact the health authority of the municipality where you reside or are staying, with the objective of conducting a new SARS-CoV-2 screening test, done by the local health authority, the result of which you will be notified;
  3. Return to the destination of origin or travel to any destination outside the Region, in which case until the time of the flight mandatory prophylactic isolation in a hotel indicated for the purpose must be fulfilled;

All passengers must comply with the rules for the use of a mask, physical distance and respiratory etiquette defined by the regional health authority.

If the passenger refuses to comply with all the procedures provided, the local health authority may, within the scope of its competence, determine  mandatory quarantine, for the period of time necessary in order to obtain the SARS-CoV-2 virus screening test result, or if the passenger does not agree to this, than until the period of time necessary to complete 14 days since the arrival to the Region, stay in a hotel designated for this purpose, in which the cost will be charged to the passenger.

Failure to comply with the prophylactic isolation in the aforementioned terms and period, as well as failure to comply with the mandatory quarantine, in cases where it is determined, implies the immediate presentation, by the health authority of the municipality where the passenger resides or is staying, of a complaint for the practice of crime disobedience.
