Taste the Stars

TAP introduces the world to the best of Portuguese cuisine.

Our cuisine is unique.

Here, the flavours have been perfected over eight centuries. The seasonings crossed the oceans to reach our dishes. The wines climbed mountains and painted magnificent landscapes.

Because our cuisine is Portugal and TAP is Portugal, we challenged five of the best Portuguese chefs to bring our best dishes to our clients and to the entire world.

Henrique Sá Pessoa, Miguel Laffan, Rui Paula, Rui Silvestre and our own Chef Victor Sobral will be ambassadors of our national cuisine, which will be served on board our flights from September 2017.

On board since May 2018

We now have onboard meals made by top chef George Mendes, when you fly on the New York – Lisbon route. This American chef is the son of Portuguese parents and he took the best Portuguese cuisine to New York with him.

His restaurant, called Aldea, was been awarded a Michelin Guide star every year since 2010. Discover more about Chef George and find inspiration in the recipes we have aboard the flights right here
Chef of the month
Rui Paula
From Portugal’s Tras-os-Montes region, his focus on his Casa de Chá da Boa Nova restaurant earned him a first Michelin Star. A chef who seeks out the most modern and avant-garde trends, without ever losing genuine flavour and memory as the main source of inspiration.
Chef of the month
Miguel Laffan
Miguel Laffan found the perfect stage at L'AND Vineyard´s for his interpretation of the spice route to India era. The chef shows how we influenced the world and how the world influenced Portugal. He creates magic and exoticism with a Portuguese perspective using spices, herbs and citrus and some fermented ingredients. You really believe that if we could go back in time we would be surprised by the sophistication of our cuisine.
Chef of the month
Vitor Sobral
Holds the title of Commander and, for this reason, he does not need any presentation. He leads the most international Portuguese catering group with restaurants in Portugal and Brazil. He is seen as the professional who changed national kitchens and catering.
Chef of the month
Henrique Sá Pessoa
He travelled around the world and brought flavours and influences to Lisbon that help him to explore traditional Portuguese cooking. For him, there is only good cooking and bad cooking, so he dedicates his life to creating meals of refined taste, perfect technique and excellent end product.
Chef of the month
Rui Silvestre
He won his first Michelin Star at age 29 at the Bon Bon restaurant (Carvoeiro, Algarve). Its gastronomic language is based on the French technique, where improbable links give rise to exciting and memorable dishes full of flavour.
