If you are traveling as a family, please note that the hold baggage allowance for children (aged from 2 to 11 years) is the same as the allowance for adults. Infants (under the age of 2) have a 10kg baggage allowance, except when traveling tap|discount. You may only carry one piece of hold baggage when traveling tap|discount, which may be one of the following: folding baby buggies, baby chair, or basket. If your connecting time is between 6h and 24h your check-in will automatically be to your final destination. Thus, if you wish to retrieve your baggage at the intermediate point, please indicate this upon drop-off of your hold baggage.
For clients with Stopovers over 24h check-in will be to the intermediate destination and hold baggage must be retrieved.
Transportation of alcoholic beverages and other liquids as hold luggage
Alcoholic beverages - up to 24% alcohol
Beverages containing less than 24% alcohol content may be transported with the restriction that the quantity carried is not greater than that permitted by the import laws by air of the country of destination. All beverages must be properly packed in their own packaging in order to prevent breaking; they must be transported in their original packaging (retail boxes). TAP Air Portugal is not responsible for the breaking of containers or the spilling of alcoholic beverages.
Alcoholic beverages - from 24% to 70% alcohol

Transportation of handcrafted drinks is not permitted.

Televisions and other screens
For security reasons, it is not allowed to transport this type of items. However, it is possible to carry these devices as cargo. For more information, see TAP Air Cargo website.
Transporting animal or vegetable food or by-products to Brazil

Alcohol-based hand sanitizer
The total net quantity of all such articles carried by each passenger must not exceed 2 kg or 2 L and the net quantity of each single article must not exceed 0.5 kg or 0.5 L.
Alcohol-based hand sanitizer is acceptable as carry-on or checked baggage. However, it should be noted that where passengers wish to have the hand sanitizer in their carry-on baggage that the limit of 100 mL or equivalent per item for liquids and gels in accordance with the aviation security provisions applies (if no local exemption has been defined by the Competent Authorities).
Please bear in mind that such articles shall not be used on any aircraft equipment or surfaces, as they have not been approved by the Aircraft Manufacturer.
Take care with your baggage
When you check your baggage, a baggage claim ticket is issued that allows the owner of the bag to be identified. For security reasons, luggage is always checked on the same plane the passenger travels on.
- Make sure your baggage is properly sealed and identified with your name and address;
- Do not overpack the bag to prevent it from being damaged;
- Always check the identification information before checking the bag and when you reclaim it;
- Immediately inform us if your bag is lost or damaged;
- Do not carry other people's bags with unidentified contents.
Articles prohibited in the hold
- Valuable and personal items;
- Fragile or perishable items;
- Essential medicines;
- Keys;
- ID documents or passport;
- Professional or academic documents;
- Samples;
- Electronic devices (for example: laptops, tablets or portable DVD players).
