Come aboard a 'World of Discovery' at the Maritime Museum, inaugurated over 60 years ago in the Jerónimos Monastery. After all, it was very close to this location that, in the fifteenth century, three Portuguese princes set sail from the waters of the Tejo to conquer unchartered territories.

In this space you will find an impressive collection of over 23,000 pieces, which portrays the great adventure that were the Discoveries, the evolution of Merchant Shipping and the War.

Getting to know the history of the Portuguese at sea is the best way to preserve the great deeds of yore. Between boat models, marine instruments, stunning replicas and actual vessels, there is a 'World of Discovery' waiting for you.
