What are TAP Upgrades?

TAP Upgrades service simplifies the process of upgrading from Economy to Executive Class, bringing it within everyone’s reach. This new format and attractive prices means there are three ways you can get upgrades whenever you contact the airline. Subject to availability, you can upgrade at Lisbon airport, place a bid for Executive Class travel or use your Victoria Miles. 

How do I Upgrade at the airport?

Passengers can upgrade to Executive Class, subject to availability, by paying a fixed fee at any ticket desk.

How do I Upgrade using miles?

Passengers can use their Victoria Miles to upgrade to Executive Class, subject to availability, on TAP and Star Alliance flights.

How do I get a Plusgrade?

The “Auction” service allows you to place a bid to travel in Executive Class up to 36 hours prior to departure. Place your bid for TAP flights and tickets online and, if successful, you will be automatically transferred to Executive Class, with payment made via the website.

Can I use my Victoria Miles to make an offer on Plusgrade?

No. Currently the Plusgrade programme only accepts offers in currency.

Do I have to pay to make an offer on Plusgrade?

No. Making an offer for Plusgrade is free of charge. Should your bid be accepted and your flight upgraded, you will only be charged the amount you offered.

How much does Plusgrade cost?

There is no amount that guarantees an upgrade. It can vary depending on the number of places available, the number of flight passengers, the number of bids and the different amounts.

We recommend you bid an amount that you feel comfortable with.

How do I make an offer in Plusgrade programme?

The Plusgrade upgrade programme is only available to passengers who book travel via flytap.com. If any of the flights on your itinerary is eligible for an upgrade, there are two ways of making an offer:

  • Through the confirmation page of your ticket purchase;
  • Through the email confirmation of your ticket purchase (it contains a link where you can enter your offer).

How do I know if my Plusgrade offer has been accepted?

If TAP Portugal accepts your offer, you will receive two emails:

  • A first email to inform you the offer has been accepted and that you have been upgraded to tap|executive;
  • A second email containing a new e-ticket.

What happens if TAP doesn't accept my Plusgrade offer?

Nothing. If you don't get upgraded, you will fly on your original ticket in Economy Class. You will not be charged anything extra.

I did not receive the email confirming my Plusgrade offer was accepted. What should I do?

If TAP Portugal accepts your offer and upgrades you to tap|executive class, you will receive two emails: one email will inform you that your offer has been accepted and that you have been upgraded, and another email will contain your new e-ticket.

In the section "Manage Booking" on flytap.com, you can also check if you have been upgraded by entering your booking code and the last name on your electronic ticket.

When will TAP accept/refuse my Plusgrade offer?

If you get upgraded to Business Class, you will receive this information by email.

If you don't get upgraded, you will fly on your original ticket in Economy Class. You will not be charged anything extra.

When I make an offer for Plusgrade, is it valid for all the other passengers?

Yes. When you make an offer for an upgrade, it is valid for everyone on your itinerary. You may only submit one offer per flight, which corresponds to the purchased ticket. Offers must always be made and paid for in currency.

Additionally, passengers may have to adjust their offer because all those people registered on the same itinerary will also be involved.

Can I change or cancel the offer I made for Plusgrade?

Yes. After you submit you initial offer, you will receive a confirmation e-mail that contains a link saying "Modify/Cancel". Please keep in mind that this is valid only for a certain period of time.

Can I change or cancel the offer I made for Plusgrade after it is accepted?

No. Once an offer is accepted, TAP will charge the full amount of the accepted offer to the passenger’s credit card. There will be no refunds, credits or exchanges after that.
