Passengers arriving from: South Africa, India or Nepal must quarantine for 14 days at their residence or other location determined by the Portuguese authorities (except if the stay in Portugal does not exceed 48h), and must present the pre-register online form available here. (Passengers travelling from the mentioned countries who do not present the form will not be allowed to travel.)

Additionally, all passengers traveling to Continental Portugal, either as a final destination, in transit or transfer, must complete this online form after checking-in for the flight.
The proof of the filled out form will need to be presented at control points.
 


As per the directive of the Portuguese Government, entry into Portuguese territory is only authorized for:
  1. Passengers on flights from countries belonging to the European Union, countries associated with the Schengen Area (Liechtenstein, Norway, Iceland and Switzerland), United Kingdom, USA, Canada and Brazil
  2. Passengers on flights from countries whose epidemiological situation is in accordance with Council Recommendation (EU) 2020/1551, of 22 October 2020.
  3. Passengers on flights from countries that are not members of the European Union or that are not countries associated with the Schengen Area (other than United Kingdom, USA, Canada and Brazil), exclusively for essential reasons (*) (**)
  4. Passengers on repatriation or humanitarian flights organized in accordance with the law.

(*) Essential reasons are: professional, study, family reunion, health or humanitarian reasons.
(**) No essential reasons are required for passengers holding an EU Digital Covid Recovery/Vaccination Certificate, or a vaccination/recovery certificate issued by third countries (see: acceptance conditions for third country certificates)

Test requirements:
Passengers entering or transiting thru Portugal must present proof of testing for the screening of SARS-CoV-2 with a negative result, or they will be denied boarding. (including Portuguese citizens, residing in Portugal and their families): 

  • NAAT - Nucleic Acid Amplification Tests (RT-PCR, NEAR, TMA, LAMP, HDA, CRISPR, SDA, etc), performed within 72 hours prior to the time of departure on the 1st embarkation point,
    OR
  • An antigen test (TRAg) performed within 48 hours prior to the time of departure on the 1st embarkation point. 

Exceptions:

  • Children who have not completed 12 yrs
  • Passengers presenting a valid EU Digital Covid certificate (see: Acceptance conditions for EU Covid certificates
  • Passengers presenting a valid recovery/vaccination certificate issued by a third country (see: acceptance conditions for third country certificates)

The mandatory tests can only be accepted in Portuguese, French, Spanish, English and Italian. An element that must be stated is the time and date at which the test was carried out.

Acceptable formats are paper and electronic (but not mobile text messages – SMS).

NHS tests and Trace Test performed in the United Kingdom are not valid for travel.

Only antigen tests acceptable by the European Union Health Committee are accepted for travel as well as the inimum data that must be present on the test result document as set by the same entity (see here).

Passengers are responsible to verify if their test meets the requirements.

Passengers travelling from the Madeira and Azores Islands are exempted from presenting the negative covid test to enter mainland Portugal (unless transferring to other country, in which case the destination rules apply).

Quarantine requirements:
Passengers that have been in South Africa, India, Nepal for the last 14 days, must quarantine for 14 days at their residence or facility determined by the authorities and present a pre-register online form available here(unless in transfer or if their stay in Portugal does not exceed 48h).

Quarantine is not mandatory for passengers presenting a valid EU Digital Covid recovery/vaccination certificate or a recovery/vaccination certificate issued by third countries (see: acceptance conditions for third country certificates).

Acceptance conditions for UE Digital Covid Certificates:

  • Vaccination certificate, declaring a complete and valid vaccination, with a COVID-19 vaccine authorized by Regulation(CE) n.º 726/2004. Vaccination is considered valid after 14 days from:
    • The single dose of a single dose vaccine, OR;
    • The second dose of a two-dose vaccine (even each dose is of a different vaccine), OR;
    • A single dose of a two-dose vaccine, if the certificate indicates that the single dose concludes the vaccination plan, for people that have already been infected with COVID-19
  • Recovery certificate, declaring that the person has recovered from COVID-19 infection, in result of a positive NAAT test with at least 11 days and no more than 180 days
  • Negative Test certificate (NAAT test performed within 72 hours prior to the time of departure on the 1st embarkation point OR antigen test performed within 48 hours prior to the time of departure on the 1st embarkation point)

Acceptance conditions for third countries certificates:

  • The acceptance of these certificates is based on reciprocity, meaning, Portugal only accepts certificates from countries that accept the EU digital covid certificate
  • The certificates must comply with the following rules:
    • Vaccination certificate, declaring a complete and valid vaccination, with a COVID-19 vaccine authorized by Regulation (CE) n.º 726/2004. Vaccination is considered valid after 14 days from:
      • The single dose of a single dose vaccine, OR;
      • The second dose of a two-dose vaccine (even each dose is of a different vaccine), OR;
      • A single dose of a two-dose vaccine, if the certificate indicates that the single dose concludes the vaccination plan, for people that have already been infected with COVID-19
      The certificate must have at least the following info:
      1. Name(s) and last name (s) of the holder
      2. Date of birth
      3. Name of the disease (COVID-19 / SARS-Cov-2 or a variant)
      4. Vaccine against COVID-19 or prophylaxis
      5. Name of the vaccine against COVID-19
      6. Holder of the authorization for introduction on the market, or vaccine manufacturer name
      7. Serial number of the shots and total number of shots in that series
      8. Data of vaccination, referring the date of the last administrated dose
      9. Country where the vaccine was administrated
      10. Entity that issued the certificate

    • Recovery certificate, declaring that the person has recovered from COVID-19 infection, in result of a positive NAAT test with at least 11 days and no more than 180 days
      The certificate must have at least the following info:
      1. Name(s) and last name (s) of the holder
      2. Date of birth
      3. Name of the disease (COVID-19 / SARS-Cov-2 or a variant) from which the holder recovered
      4. Date of the first positive result
      5. Country that issued the certificate
      6. Entity that issued the certificate
      7. Date from which the certificate is valid

 

NOTES:

  • The certificates can be presented digitally or in paper
  • Presenting valid UE COVID digital certificate (only recovery or vaccination) or a third country valid vaccination/recovery certificate exempts passengers from quarantine upon arrival and essential reasons for travel
  • Minors travelling with a responsible adult that holds a recovery or vaccination certificate are exempted from quarantine upon arrival.

For some destinations it is mandatory that passengers complete an online form, prior to the flight, proof of which will need to be presented at control points upon arrival, verify below if this is needed in your case. For destinations that do not have an online form, passengers will be requested to fill out a form during the flight.

It is the passenger’s responsibility to comply with all government policies and entry requirements, for example the need to fill out forms and/or Covid-19 testing. Failure to do so may result in denied boarding for the flight or entry to the destination.

Symptomatic passengers identified at the airport by public health authorities may be refused to continue their journey.

Use of a face mask is mandatory on board all TAP flights. Therefore, all our passengers, aged over 6, must be equipped with one and guarantee that it is used during the entire duration of the journey.

The use of a face mask will only be exempted for passengers who are proven to have health problems that cannot use it. In these cases, prior to the flight and in order to travel, the passenger must have a medical authorization (MEDIF). Otherwise, boarding will be denied.

We also advise our passengers to inform themselves on specific regulations that may exist at their points of origin and destination, for example that fact that it is already compulsory at many airports to wear a face mask.

*Nota: El destino final Bissau se prolongará el período estival con embargo hasta el 30 de septiembre de 2021.
El destino final Bissau se adelantará el período navideño con embargo desde el 13 de noviembre de 2021.
Destino final Conakry, el periodo de verano solo debe considerarse del 10 de julio de 2021 al 8 de agosto de 2021, y el período navideño del 16 de diciembre de 2021 al 29 de diciembre de 2021.
Destino final Dakar, el periodo de verano solo debe considerarse del 24 de junio de 2021 al 31 de agosto de 2021.
Punto de partida Conakry, el período de verano solo  debe considerarse del 30 de julio de 2021 al 6 de septiembre de 2021 y el período de Año Nuevo del 1 de enero de 2022 al 10 de enero de 2022.

Los viajes que tengan como destino Abiyán, Accra, Bissau, Conakry, Dakar, Praia, Santo Tomé o San Vicente, o que partan de Abiyán, Accra o Conakry, no permitirán el exceso de equipaje (en peso o dimensiones) de la franquicia asociada a la tarifa, la compra de bultos de equipaje extra ni el transporte de animales, equipos deportivos o instrumentos musicales en la bodega. Solo se aceptará el número de equipajes indicado en el billete y cuya suma de dimensiones (alto, ancho y largo) no supere los 158 cm, con un peso máximo de 23 kg, en clase económica, y de 32 kg en clase ejecutiva.

La limitación se aplica a todos los billetes, independientemente del tipo de producto adquirido o del estatus de pasajero frecuente, con excepción de los billetes tap|discount, en los que solo será posible añadir un bulto de equipaje.

Según el Decreto-Ley n.º 22-A/2021 del gobierno portugués, los documentos portugueses con fecha de caducidad posterior al 31 de marzo de 2021 se consideran válidos hasta el 31 de diciembre de 2021.

Los documentos mantendrán su vigencia después de esta fecha solo si el propietario acredita que ya solicitó la renovación a las autoridades competentes.

Se aplica a los siguientes documentos portugueses: tarjetas ciudadanas, certificaciones y certificados emitidos por los servicios de identificación civil competentes, permisos de conducir, documentos y visados relacionados con la permanencia en el territorio nacional, licencias y autorizaciones.
La cantidad neta total de todos esos artículos transportados por cada pasajero no debe exceder los 2 kg o 2 L y la cantidad neta de cada artículo no debe exceder los 0.5 kg o 0.5 L.

El desinfectante de manos a base de alcohol es aceptable como equipaje de mano o equipaje de bodega. Sin embargo, debe tenerse en cuenta que cuando los pasajeros desean tener el desinfectante de manos en su equipaje de mano, se aplica el límite de 100 ml o equivalente por artículo para líquidos y geles de acuerdo con las disposiciones de seguridad de la aviación (si las Autoridades Competentes no han definido ninguna exención local).

Tenga en cuenta que dichos artículos no se deben utilizar en ningún equipo o superficie de la aeronave, ya que no han sido aprobados por el fabricante de la misma.
