Do your COVID-19 test with Laboratório Fleury and Clínica Felippe Mattoso

Some countries require or recommend that incoming passengers present a certificate confirming a negative COVID-19 result.

TAP has partnered with Laboratório Fleury in São Paulo and Clínica Felippe Mattoso in Rio de Janeiro to carry out the RT-PCR test for COVID-19 at a special price.

Scheduling the RT-PCR test is mandatory and can be done by contacting the respective customer service teams.

How much does the test cost?
TAP passengers get a special price on the test: R$ 352,00.

What is the deadline for delivering the result/report?
The deadline for delivering the result/report is up to 2 business days (Saturday included), at 11pm.

Is there any mandatory documentation?

Yes, to schedule the test you should have:
  • personal document with photo proving the name identical to the air ticket;
  • the e-ticket number of a ticket issued by TAP for a future date;
  • no medical request required.
How is the test done?

The test is carried out on a drive-thru basis, without leaving your car. When scheduling, you can choose the unit closest to you. This exam is not carried out via Fleury em Casa (mobile service).

What is the RT-PCR test?
RT-PCR (reverse-transcriptase polymerase chain reaction), is considered the gold standard in COVID-19 diagnosis, the confirmation of which is achieved by detecting SARS-CoV-2 RNA in the sample, preferably obtained from nasopharynx scraping.

  • It transforms the virus's RNA into DNA.
  • DNA is amplified.
  • If SARS-CoV-2 genetic material is found the sample, specific probes detect its presence and produce a signal which is then captured by the equipment and translated as a positive result.
If the result is positive, the suspicion of COVID-19 is confirmed.

Samples can be collected from the third day after the onset of symptoms to the tenth day, as it is at the end of this period that the RNA amount tends to decrease. In other words, the RT-PCR test identifies the virus when it is active in the body, making it possible to apply appropriate medical procedures: hospitalization, social isolation, and any other procedures that prove relevant to the case.
