Helpo Association is a secular and apolitical non-governmental organization focusing on development and operating in Portugal, Mozambique, São Tomé and Príncipe, and Guinea-Bissau since 2008. Its mission is to promote development through education, maternal/child nutrition and health, humanitarian and emergency aid, education for development, and global citizenship.
Helpo operates across 101 intervention areas, where it builds schools, libraries, daycare centers, nutrition centers, school canteens and rainwater harvesting systems, while also providing community training, health education, assistance, and ongoing training. Helpo funds these activities through the Remote Child Sponsorship Program, donations, and projects supported by international agencies and businesses. Currently, it reaches approximately 146,803 children.
