KidZania is an indoor theme park designed for children until 15 years old and their parents. It’s a kid-sized replica of a real city where children play adult roles in a highly realistic environment. They can choose between more than 60 different professions which are practiced in replicas of the most representative establishments of an actual city: airport, factories, theatre, shops, racetrack, police station, fire department, press, TV studio, stadium and many more.
The activities are designed to be fun and pedagogical, based on the edutainment — education + entertainment — concept. Its contents are developed according to school programs and seek to teach the children citizenship values and rules, helping them to live in society in a healthy way.
At KidZania the official currency is the kidZo. With their kidZos, citizens are able to buy several goods and services available in the city (such as, supermarket goods, hairdresser, car rental, etc) or even do their shopping at the kidZos shop. To earn their kidZos, children will practice the profession they like the most. Their effort will be rewarded with a salary. They manage their own money and are given the opportunity to save their kidZos in a KidZania bank account and draw it out at an ATM machine the next time they visit the city. After all, money doesn’t grow on trees!
Each tour to the city is a new and unrepeatable experience. KidZania is a one-size-fits-all designed space with, among others: parents resting room, cafeteria, gift shop, nursing room, infirmary, photography services and a room for little children.
