Travel from Ancient Egypt to the present with the Founder's Collection and the Modern Collection at the Calouste Gulbenkian Museum.

The Founder's Collection comprises over 6,000 exhibits, from antiquity to the early twentieth century, including Egyptian, Greco-Roman, Islamic and Far-Eastern Art, as well as European Numismatics, Painting and Decorative Arts. Paintings by Rubens, Rembrandt, Turner and Degas, along with Lalique Jewelery, are just some examples of what you can find in Calouste Sarkis Gulbenkian's invaluable private collection.

The Modern Collection brings together the largest and most complete collection of contemporary Portuguese art, as well as an important core of twentieth-century British art. From Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso to Vieira da Silva and Paula Rego, the Modern Collection features some of the most prestigious and internationally renowned Portuguese artists.

  • All spaces within the Foundation's premises offer free WiFi, including the Park.
  • The Gulbenkian Museum App offers free access to the Founder's Collection audio guide. Using headphones during the visit is recommended.
  • The Museum offers a free cloakroom service where you can leave your belongings, including travel luggage.
  • You can find in each Collection building a cafeteria with a terrace overlooking the garden, as well as an ice-cream shop in the Foundation's premises.  Both cafeterias are open from 10 am to 6 pm and are closed on Tuesdays. The ice-cream shop is open every day from 10 am to 8 pm.
