Checking in doesn’t have to be complicated or time-consuming. Find out about the way of checking in that is most convenient for you.
Regardless of how you check in, don’t forget that you must be at the boarding gate at least 30 before departure time.
At the airport or at home
For flights departing from London City, TAP informs its Clients:
- check-in closes 45 minutes prior to the aircraft departure time;
- for a quicker and more comfortable check-in we recommend checking-in online or via the TAP app (iOS or Android);
- to make it easier to check-in your luggage, we suggest using the fully automated Self Bag Drop. Please note, however, that this service is entirely unmanned;
- the number of bags you can carry depends on your fare or TAP Miles&Go Status. Confirm allowed luggage here.
Available from 36 hours prior to departure, except flights to the USA, which due to government restrictions are available from up to 24 hours prior to departure.

Now you can also access your boarding card automatically with the Google Now feature without having to open your email or changing your settings.
With this feature you can access your boarding card automatically, without opening your email or changing your settings.
Just associate an app-compatible email account on your Android device to start using this new feature, and your boarding card will automatically appear as a notification on the day of your flight.

Check in with Skybags
It is called SKYBAGS and includes personalised check-in. This services transports all the bags allowed by the airline for only €35.
If you check in at home, in the office or at your hotel on the day before your flight (or on the same day for night flights) you can earn up to 750 miles in your TAP Miles&Go account!

The day before you fly
- A SKYBAGS employee comes to your home and checks you in.
- They check your travel documents.
- Any excess weight or size is charged at current rates plus the SKYBAGS surcharge.
- You are given a SKYBAGS receipt.
On the day of your flight
- Go to a TAP check-in desk at least an hour before your flight to collect your boarding pass.
- You will be told which boarding gate to go to.
- Your baggage will travel on the same flight with you.

Geographical coverage
SKYBAGS currently serves TAP-operated flights from Lisbon.
The service covers the following areas:
- Lisbon city
- Lisbon to Cascais
- Lisbon to Sintra
- South side of the Tagus (subject to confirmation)
- Lisbon District (subject to confirmation)

- There are special rates for children.
- Extra, overweight and over-sized bags are charged for on collection at the airline’s rates, plus a surcharge of €1 per kg excess weight.
- There are special rates for groups, provided that the group is at the same address.
New Check-in A Area
TAP passengers can now use this new area at Lisbon Airport to check in their own baggage.
Modern, spacious and practical, with its Self Bag-Drop service and E-Check-in Kiosks, will make your journey easier.
At Check-in A you can:
- Take care of your baggage;
- Print your boarding card and baggage label;
- Avoid the queues at the desk;
Self-service check-in kiosks
At some airports, you may find our self-service check-in kiosks, which allow you to:
- Check in quickly and automatically.
- Choose your seat and print your board pass.
- Use the e-ticket number, booking code or TAP Miles&Go customer number given when booking as identification.
If you are travelling with baggage, you can hand it in at the drop-off desks at the airport.
Available for all flights operated by TAP or TAP Express (numbered 1 to 3999).
All passengers must be at the boarding gate 30 minutes before departure time, otherwise they may not be allowed to board.
Check-in desks
If you have not managed to check-in online, then for your comfort you can do so at the airport, where you can also seek help from an agent to complete your check-in and bag drop.
You can also use the TAP Airport Ticket Office at the SATA counters in Ponta Delgada and Terceira airports. If you wish to use this service, please go to the Check-in counters at the airport. The opening hours are:
- Ponta Delgada (Departures hall, opposite the security area): 05:00 – 21:30;
- Terceira (floor 3): 05:00 – 19:30.
