When you fly with us you will enjoy a completely different interior: one that is more modern, spacious, and comfortable. There are Portuguese-designed Recaro seats in all classes.
We have invested in the design with the help of leading Portuguese companies that specialize in skins and leather and who are responsible for the entire interior design of the cabin.

Now we are offering you the chance to reserve a seat in that part of the aircraft you prefer and in which you feel most comfortable. Make sure you travel in your preferred area before arriving at the airport (excluding Lisbon-Porto/Porto-Lisbon flights).
We have created three areas in the economy class cabin: Standard, Preferred, and Extra Legroom (emergency exits):
- Extra Legroom / Emergency exit - emergency exit rows between Preferred and Standard areas;
- Preferential Area - front rows - from the first row of Economy Class to the row before the Extra Legroom seats. Except in the A321 fleet, where it is up to row 15 (red seats);
- Standard area - from the row after Extra Legroom to the last row of Economy Class.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to reserve a seat?
Seats are available for reservation at any time. In the case of tickets without this benefit included, and should you not wish to pay extra for this service, seats are allocated automatically at check-in (either online or at the airport). Any changes are charged for depending on the TAP Product and the seat requested.
This service is not applicable on the Air Shuttle between Lisbon and Porto or vice versa.

There are three ways to reserve a seat:
- During the reservation process;

- In involuntary cases (for example missing a connection through a fault of the company) you will receive a full refund of the price of the service you did not receive.
- If you are allocated a different seat, but one of the same type;
- If you cancel your flight you will not be eligible for a refund, although you may receive a voucher to use on the same service within 12 months of issue;
- If you book an emergency exit seat without meeting the requirements.
What happens if the aircraft is changed?
Our system will do all it can to replace the seat you selected with another offering the same characteristics. The chosen/allocated seat row may also be changed; however, the system will ensure you are allocated a new seat of the same type. For instance, seat 4C, which is a “Preferred” seat, may be changed to 6D, which is also a “Preferred” seat.

Do you need an extra seat? See how to reserve one and what conditions apply.
These are our recommendations when reserving an extra seat:
- Request one when you make your TAP flight reservation.
- For safety reasons, extra seats cannot be provided to passengers traveling next to emergency exits.
Passengers who, for medical reasons, require a seat in front to rest their leg, should check the information in the Medical Assistance section of this site.
You may also contact TAP or your travel agent.
Extra seats to carry fragile or bulky items, musical instruments or diplomatic pouches are also available.
For cabin baggage or bulky items, the number of extra seats provided by the airline will depend on the volume and weight of the baggage. Find out more here.
