Coronavirus Covid-19: Restricted entry for passengers traveling to the United States of America

The US government has announced entry restrictions on passengers who have traveled to China (excluding Hong Kong and Macau) in the 14 days prior to arriving in the United States.

American citizens or citizens with a permanent resident card: The government has declared quarantine for all those who have been to the Wuhan or Hubei provinces in the two weeks prior to their intended arrival in the United States. Citizens who have been to other Chinese provinces will be screened, monitored, and instructed on how to proceed with self-quarantine.

Foreign nationals: foreign nationals who have been in China in the 14 days prior to coming to the United States will not be permitted entry for two weeks.

All journeys originating in China will be directed to 10 airports in the United States: New York-JFK, Chicago O’Hare, San Francisco, Seattle, Atlanta, Honolulu, Los Angeles, Washington, Dallas, and Detroit. Additionally, the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) now have screening areas and quarantine zones at several U.S. airports.
The government of the United States has decided to treat all foreign nationals who have transited through China as having visited that country and therefore to extend these restrictions to include them.
Leaflets containing information about the virus and contact details of the competent authorities in the event of any symptoms appearing are being distributed to everyone arriving from China.
The U.S. Department of Transportation has confirmed U.S. airlines may deny boarding to passengers who have been in China recently if they have a fever or shortness of breath. Passengers exhibiting the symptoms but who have not been to China will have to present a medical certificate confirming their condition is not contagious.

These restrictions are to prevent contamination and the spread of the coronavirus and to minimize the risk to public health.
