What is a safety zone?
- It is an area, inside the plane, near the seat of the passenger with an allergy, which aims to limit as much as possible that an allergic reaction occurs on board;
- The exact area or size of this safety zone will vary depending on the flight in question. It is required to submit for a safety zone at least forty-eight hours in advance;
- The other passengers within the same seat segment (seats immediately next to the seat of the allergen-sensitive passenger, not extending to seats separated by an aisle) are informed:
- of the severity of the condition of the allergen-sensitive passenger (the passenger's identity remains confidential);
- of the particular allergens, to avoid the consumption or use of products that might trigger an allergic reaction.
- If the allergen is present in that seat segment and alternative seats are available, the allergen-sensitive passenger will be reassigned to another seat.
It is important to note that:
TAP is not expected to provide a full guarantee that the cabin is not contaminated by the allergen.
TAP bears no responsibility regarding the information on the ingredient labels of packaged foods served on board its aircraft.
